11 writing tips for your blog
Anyone can blog. Really. Some people might naturally have a better feel for language, style, and structure than others, but that shouldn't stop anyone from writing a blog post. However, it helps to pay attention to a few things to ensure your message comes across effectively. That's why I'm offering : 11 writing tips for bloggers who have a lot to say but aren't quite sure how to express it.
If you remember these basic rules, you'll have a really good blog. Good enough to publish and establish yourself as an expert . You're (probably) not a writer, so it doesn't have to be a literary masterpiece.
Read the writing tips, print them out , put them next to your computer, and start writing ( download the checklist on one A4 sheet here ). Don't be shy, it's just like talking, but on paper (see the first writing tip). You can do it too.
1 - Write (approximately) as you speak
This is the single most important blog writing tip I can give you: write the way you talk. Many people tend to suddenly use completely different words when they lay out their opinion or knowledge down on paper. As if written text has to be formal. Wrong. Text should be comprehensible. Therefore, use plain words and plain sentences. You can recognize formal writers (you see them a lot among lawyers, but many civil servants do it too) by, for example, the use of "we/she" in the sentence:

Why use "we/she" when you normally always use "die"? Also avoid woolly and old-fashioned words like inzake , te elpst tijde , hiermet , and dans. Onze Taal has a good list of alternatives for old-fashioned language .
